Removal of Fillers

At MyClinic in Stockholm, we offer customized treatments for the safe and effective removal of fillers. Our experienced practitioners create subtle and harmonious results tailored to your individual needs and preferences.

Can fillers be removed?

Yes, fillers can be removed. Filler removal is a procedure in which unwanted dermal fillers are dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This enzyme effectively breaks down hyaluronic acid-based fillers, allowing the treated area to return to its natural appearance. The treatment is safe and effective and is performed by experienced nurses to ensure the best possible results.

How does filler removal work?

Filler removal works by injecting hyaluronidase directly into the area where the filler is located. The enzyme rapidly breaks down the hyaluronic acid, enabling the body to absorb and eliminate the material. Our experienced specialists ensure that the procedure is carried out safely and effectively to achieve the desired result with minimal risk of complications.

Is the removal of fillers painful?

The procedure involves minimal discomfort. An anesthetic ointment is applied shortly before the injection to ensure maximum comfort throughout the treatment.

How long does it take to remove fillers?

The injection treatment usually takes between 15 to 30 minutes. Results become visible approximately 1–2 weeks after the treatment once any swelling and bruising have subsided. We aim to make your experience as smooth and pleasant as possible, providing careful supervision and support throughout the process. Your comfort and satisfaction are our highest priorities.

Are there any side effects?

Common side effects include swelling, redness, and possible bruising at the injection site. These reactions are typically mild and temporary, usually resolving within a few days. Your practitioner will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and ensure you are well-informed about potential side effects to support your recovery.

Questions and Answers about Removal
Of Fillers in Stockholm

How Do I Book a Consultation?

You can book a free video consultation by clicking here. It is also possible to book an on-site consultation for SEK 300.

If you have not previously attended a consultation for aesthetic injection treatments, it is required by law to book one. After receiving the necessary information during the consultation, there is a mandatory reflection period of at least two days before the treatment can be carried out.

For repeat treatments conducted more than six months after your last session, a new consultation is mandatory; however, no additional reflection period will be required.

Is an Allergy Test Performed Before Filler Removal?

Yes, we always perform a test 20 minutes prior to the treatment to minimize the risk of allergic reactions. However, it is important to note that the test does not always guarantee that an allergic reaction will not occur. Despite the test, there is always a small risk of an allergic reaction when treating the specific area.

Contraindications – When Filler Removal Is Not Recommended

Filler removal treatment is not recommended if you have:

  • Untreated or uncontrolled autoimmune diseases
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • An ongoing infection in the body
  • An ongoing course of antibiotics
  • A recent tattoo (within 1 week prior to treatment)

Always consult with your practitioner to determine if the treatment is suitable for you.

How Many Treatments Are Needed to Completely Remove Fillers?

Most fillers can be removed with a single treatment. However, in some cases, additional sessions may be required depending on factors such as the amount and type of filler injected and individual response. Your practitioner will assess your specific case and provide recommendations based on your individual needs and preferences.

Can All Fillers Be Removed?

Hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be easily dissolved with hyaluronidase. However, other types of fillers, such as calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid, are more difficult to remove and may require alternative methods or even surgical intervention. Your practitioner will discuss all available options with you and develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs and preferences.

Can New Fillers Be Done After Removing Old Fillers?

Yes, it is possible to have new fillers after the old ones have been removed. We recommend waiting at least 1–2 weeks before undergoing a new treatment. This allows the tissue time to heal properly and ensures that any residual filler has been fully broken down. Allowing sufficient healing time helps minimize the risk of complications and contributes to achieving the best possible final result.

How Should I Prepare for Filler Removal?

It is important to avoid certain medications containing acetylsalicylic acid (such as aspirin) and supplements like omega-3, as they can increase the risk of bruising. Please arrive at your appointment without makeup to minimize the risk of infection. At the time of treatment, there should be no wounds or open lesions on the areas to be treated. We recommend following these guidelines to optimize your treatment experience and reduce the risk of side effects.
