How do polynucleotides work?
Polynucleotides, also known as Salmon DNA, are a cutting-edge treatment in aesthetic skincare. They use natural DNA fragments derived from salmon to deeply restore and rejuvenate the skin. These DNA and RNA molecules act as the body’s own building blocks for cell renewal and are essential in the skin’s natural repair process. Thanks to the high biological compatibility between salmon DNA and human skin, the treatment effectively activates the skin’s self-healing ability – offering a science-based and natural solution for skin rejuvenation.
Polynucleotides work on multiple levels to:
- Stimulate cell renewal: Activates fibroblasts to boost collagen and elastin production – essential for firm, elastic skin.
- Protect against oxidative stress: Acts as an antioxidant to defend the skin from free radicals.
- Provide deep hydration: Binds water molecules to deliver intense hydration and improve skin texture.
- Enhance microcirculation: Supports blood flow, resulting in a fresher, more radiant complexion.
Benefits of polynucleotide treatment
- Natural skin regeneration: Stimulates the skin’s own healing process for long-lasting, natural results.
- Non-invasive method: No surgery or downtime required.
- Multi-functional: Improves elasticity, hydration, and protection.
- Safe and biocompatible: Well-tolerated and suitable for all skin types.

Frequently Asked Questions (Salmon DNA Treatment)
How do I book a consultation for Polynucleotides?
You can book a free video consultation by clicking here. It is also possible to book an on-site consultation for SEK 300.
If you have not previously attended a consultation for aesthetic injection treatment, it is necessary to book one in accordance with the legislation. After receiving the information during the consultation, you must wait for a reflection period of at least two days before the treatment can be carried out. For recurrent treatments after more than six months, a new consultation is mandatory, but no further reflection period is required.
What are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are natural molecules extracted from wild salmon. They are made up of building blocks of DNA and RNA and are used to stimulate the skin’s natural repair and regeneration processes, resulting in improved texture, elasticity and radiance.
Do polynucleotides help with hair loss?
Yes, early studies show that polynucleotides can improve hair density and support the hair follicle environment in early-stage hair loss.
How do they work?
Polynucleotides integrate with skin cells and activate collagen and elastin production while strengthening DNA repair. This improves skin quality, reduces fine lines and promotes hydration.
How many sessions are needed?
We recommend a course of 2-3 treatments at 4-6 week intervals for best results. After that, you can maintain the effects with one treatment per year.
When will I see results?
Improvements in skin texture and hydration can be noticed within a month, while full results are visible after a few months.
What’s the difference between Polynucleotides and Profhilo/Ejal40?
Polynucleotides, Profhilo and Ejal40 are all regenerative Both polynucleotides and Profhilo/Ejal40 are regenerative treatments that improve skin quality, but they work in different ways:
Profhilo and Ejal40 are both injectable hyaluronic acid treatments that focus on hydration, improved skin elasticity and biorevitalization. Profhilo is more known for its deep moisturizing and “skin-boosting” effect, while Ejal40 has a slightly different composition that deeply strengthens and moisturizes the skin.
Polynucleotides have a strong collagen stimulating effect and are particularly good for mature skin, promoting cell renewal and tissue repair.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment involves minimal discomfort. We use a thin or blunt needle to inject the polynucleotides. Slight swelling or bruising may occur, but these will disappear quickly.
Are there any side effects?
Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling or small bruises at the injection site. These normally subside within a few days.
Can Polynucleotides help with acne scars?
Yes, polynucleotides are effective in improving skin texture and reducing acne scars, except for ice pick scars which require other treatments like TCA cross.
