Why does your skin age and why do you get age spots?
- Skin ageing: Skin ageing is a natural process influenced by both internal factors (genetics, hormones) and external factors (UV radiation, pollution, lifestyle). Over time, the skin’s production of collagen and elastin decreases, leading to a loss of firmness and elasticity. The skin’s ability to renew itself also decreases, making wrinkles and fine lines more prominent.
- Pigment spots: Pigment spots, also known as hyperpigmentation, are often caused by an overproduction of melanin, the pigment that gives skin its color. This overproduction can be triggered by UV exposure, hormonal changes (such as during pregnancy or ageing) and skin damage (such as acne). The spots occur when the melanin collects in certain areas, creating dark patches on the skin.

What is PRX-T33?
PRX (PRX-T33) is the new generation TCA peel for all different skin types and ages. Each molecule of PRX-T33 contains a unique combination of 33% TCA, 3% hydrogen peroxide and 5% kojic acid. By combining these ingredients, the treatment can address multiple skin concerns simultaneously.
How does a treatment work?
PRX-T33 is applied directly to the skin and massaged in using a specially designed massage technique. The product is worked into the dermis using a layering technique and, depending on the sensitivity of the skin, we choose how many layers to apply and whether any area should be avoided, such as sore lips. After the solution has worked, it is neutralized and a moisturizing mask and cream are applied to soothe and protect the skin. Most people find the treatment completely painless.

What can you expect after the treatment?

Are there any side effects of the PRX-T33 treatment?
PRX-T33 is generally well tolerated, but as with all treatments, there may be a risk of mild side effects such as redness, dryness or a slight stinging sensation. These are usually temporary and disappear quickly.

Are there any special instructions for PRX-T33 treatment?
Discontinue any retinol therapy and AHA acid at least 15 days before treatment with PRX-T33. After completion of treatment, the use of retinol and acids can be resumed.
- Refrain from treatment with PRX-T33 immediately after shaving/waxing.
- Refrain if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Refrain from treatment if you have ongoing active skin infections, herpes rashes, open sores or eczema.
- We always encourage the use of sunscreen regardless of the season.
